The ATM Industry Association is an alliance dedicated to the global advancement and proliferation of automated teller machines. It has chapters in USA, Canada, Europe, Africa, Asia and Australasia, with plans for additional regional chapters. ATMIA is the world’s only international trade body for the ATM industry with members in 40 countries. In June 2003, ATMIA established the Global ATM Security Alliance (GASA) (www.globalasa.com) with the mission to employ global security resources in a united alliance in order to protect the ATM industry from criminal activity. GASA publishes international security lifecycle best practices and manages a global ATM crime data management system called Cognito, which includes an online fraud library. www.atmia.com

The Global ATM Security Alliance, pronounced Gazza, was formed in June 2003 through the ATM Industry Association. Our purpose is to combat the threat of cross border ATM crimes like debit card fraud, skimming and ATM scams, perpetrated in many cases by highly mobile crime syndicates. Our mission is to employ global security resources in a united alliance in order to protect the ATM industry from criminal activity.

Interac Association is a national organization linking enterprises that have proprietary networks so that they may communicate with each other for the purpose of exchanging electronic financial transactions. The Association was founded in 1984 by five financial institutions. As of December 2004 there are just over 90 members.
